PR1MA™ SmartStain™ PS (Pre-Stain) can be used as a direct replacement for Ethidium Bromide in agarose and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The stain emits green fluorescence when bound to dsDNA or ssDNA and emits red fluorescence when bound to RNA. PR1MA™ SmartStain™ PS exhibits excitation peaks at 290 nm and 490 nm, allowing it to be used with UV and blue light.

Protocol:

• Prepare 100 mL of agarose or polyacrylamide solution.
• Add 5 uL of PR1MA™ SmartStain™ to the gel solution before pouring gels.
• For enhanced results, add PR1MA™ SmartStain™ PS to the running buffer at a ratio of 5 uL per 100 mL. Adding PR1MA™ SmartStain™ PS to the running buffer will result in increased sensitivity and better detection of small quantities of nucleic acid.
• After electrophoresis is complete, view the gel using a UV or blue light illuminator

The SmartWasher™ 96 provides flexibility by accepting full plates, partial plates, and strips with U, V, C, or flat bottoms. Multiple aspiration point settings allow for minimal residual liquid in the wells after aspiration. All parameters, including dis­pense volume, suction time, soak and shake cycles, and shaking speed are easily programmed using the large 4.3" LCD display and keypad. Up to 100 wash protocols can be stored on board the SmartWasher™ 96 and recalled when needed or transferred between machines with a flash drive.

The washer comes with 2 wash bottles, 1 rinse bottle and a waste bottle. All have sensors that alert the user when the solutions are low, or in the case of the waste bottle, when it needs to be emptied. An auto-rinse function primes the dispensing tube and wash heads to prevent cross contamination and clogs.

8- and 12-channel wash heads are available separately to accommodate plates in either orientation. A transparent, acrylic shield surrounds the wash area, allowing for visualization of the plate. Should a spill or leak occur, the beveled spill well ensures that the liquid is extracted immediately to avoid cross-contamination.

GenoSep™ Separation Technology

This instrument utilizes convenient, reusable cartridges to separate nucleic acids and proteins. Each cartridge incorporates a proprietary polymer matrix and a fused silica capillary. During analysis, programmable high voltage is applied through the capillary to generate an electric field that drives the electrophoretic migration of macromolecules through the polymer matrix. Differences in electrophoretic mobility result in size-based separation, and fluorescently labeled fragments are detected as they pass the optical detection window. User-selectable voltages enable optimization of methods for different applications and fragment size ranges.

Performance

To ensure exceptional sensitivity and reproducibility, each GenoSep™ cartridge is produced under a rigorous manufacturing process, helping to enable consistent results from cartridge to cartridge. Precision high-voltage control with automated instrument operation allows the GenoSep™ system to deliver highly reproducible migration times, enabling accurate fragment sizing and reliable comparison between runs. Consistent migration profiles provide reliable assessment of sample integrity.

The GenoSep™ system also provides exceptional sensitivity, with a limit of detection as low as 2 pg. This high sensitivity is achieved through LED-induced fluorescence detection, optimized optical design, and a proprietary low-background separation matrix that minimizes background noise and enhances signal-to-noise performance.

Software

The included Windows-based GenoSep™ software allows for instrument control and data analysis. The PC software is quick to install, set up, and begin operation.

Running an assay is simple: load the samples, select the desired method, and click Run. The software automatically controls the instrument, monitors the analysis in real time, and generates electropherograms, virtual gel images, fragment sizing info, and quantitative results.

The engineered polymerase exhibits rapid extension kinetics (~10 s/kb), enabling efficient fast cycling protocols while maintaining high processivity. The formulation supports robust long-range amplification, with reliable performance on templates exceeding 15 kb.

The enzyme possesses both 5’→3’ DNA polymerase activity and intrinsic 3’→5’ exonuclease proofreading activity, resulting in an ultra-low error rate (below the detection limit) compared to Taq DNA polymerase. The high fidelity of the enzyme supports applications where sequence integrity is critical, such as molecular cloning, next-generation sequencing (NGS) library construction, and site-directed mutagenesis.

The optimized buffer system enhances amplification efficiency across challenging templates, including GC-rich and partially impure DNA samples, while maintaining high yield and specificity with minimal reaction optimization.

The Accuris ASPIRE Laboratory Aspirator incorporates a quiet, maintenance-free pump inside a sturdy, yet compact base.
