Biobank series for large scale storage is designed to ensure the maximum storage capacity with the minimum consumption of liquid nitrogen to lower the overall cost of operation.

The IC Biomedical LS-Series provides reliable liquid or vapor phase liquid nitrogen vial storage using convenient, box-style racks. Available in five sizes, these systems support efficient inventory management with rack index location rings, internal location fixtures, and computer-compatible box storage.

 

In vapor-phase operation, rack top temperatures reach -190ºC for excellent sample protection. Each unit features a high-strength aluminum body, magneformed neck tube, and super-insulated vacuum design for maximum holding times and durability.

 

Enhanced security options are available for select models. The LS4800 and LS6000 support optional CS100 controllers with remote connection capability and low-level LN2 alarms, while lockable lids help protect valuable samples.

IC Biomedical’s vapor shippers, or dry shippers, enable easier transport, free from the challenges of liquid nitrogen. These shippers are safe and compliant, ideal for facilities and clinics that work with IVF, cell therapy, biomedical storage, and other programs that require sub-cryogenic shipping.

 

Vapor shippers utilize advanced dry shipper technology to eliminate spillage risks while maintaining cryogenic temperatures for biological samples. The CX-Series utilizes a Hydrophobic Adsorbent material that’s easier to clean if the vessel gets contaminated. All shippers comply with IATA regulations for open cryogenic receptacles.

 

IC Biomedical Shipping Cases are available for the safe transport of vapor shippers. These cases are made to protect shippers from physical damage. The CX100-4LSC option is designed for IC Biomedical shippers CX100 and CXR100 and is also compatible with most other similar-sized shippers. CXR500-8C00 is designed to protect the CXR500 model.

How to Choose the Right Scientific Dewar Containers

 

The ideal liquid nitrogen (LN2) storage dewar for your facility or project will depend on how you plan to use it.

 

Consider your needs regarding:

  • Footprint and capacity: If you have limited space or require portability, opt for a smaller model. Larger models will increase your LN2 capacity and reduce refill frequency
  • Static hold and evaporation rate: The less evaporation that occurs, the longer you can go without refilling LN2. However, especially sensitive materials may require a model that prioritizes hold time over evaporation rate
  • Access: Smaller device necks can conserve more LN2 when dispensing, but may be more challenging to use and slow down operations that require frequent dispensing
  • Portability: The more compact your laboratory dewar flask is, the easier it will be to transport and use in field research. If portability is not a concern, a larger model may offer more benefits
