PR1MA™ SOB Broth, Capsules

SOB Broth is recommended for use in cultivation of recombinant strains of
E. Coli. It is a nutritionally rich growth medium for use in the
preparation and transformation of competent cells.
Add two capsules to one liter of distilled water. Heat and stir gently to
completely dissolve medium. Sterilize by autoclaving at 121°C for 15
minutes.
Final Solution contains:
- Casein Enzymic Hydrolysate: 20 g/L
- Yeast Extract: 5 g/L
- Sodium Chloride: 0.5 g/L
- Magnesium Sulfate: 2.4 g/L
- Potassium Chloride: 0.186 g/L

Enriched media for maintenance and propagation of E. Coli and plasmid
growth. Produces higher cell densities resulting in greater yields of DNA
or recombinant proteins. Glycerol is used as a carbon source with this
formulation instead of glucose as it will not ferment to acetic acid.

Add 1 capsule per 500 mL of water. Heat and stir until capsules are

Now available in convenient premeasured and pre-mixed
capsules. Prebuffered media eliminates pH adjustments, dust and smells from
the lab. Low Salt Formula. Molecular Biology Grade.
For propagation and maintenance of E.Coli:
- Add 1 capsule per liter of water.
- Heat and stir until capsule is completely dissolved.
- Buffer is set for 7.2 at 20°C using a 10mM solution of TRIS/TRIS HCl
- Sterilize by autoclaving for 15 minutes.
