This simple-to-program PCR thermal cycler unit is compact in design and built to perform. Programming is intuitive with the large display and multiple pre-programmed templates supplied with the unit.

The OptiMax comes with standard built-in 2-step, temperature optimization, touchdown, and time increment protocols that are easy to adjust to meet your cycling needs. You can select lid temperature or turn it off depending on your needs. The faster ramp rates allow more work to be done in a workday.

Distinct Heat Optimization

The MultiGene™ OptiMax employs a new protocol optimization process improving on older gradient features. This “Better than Gradient” capability allows users to select up to 6 distinct annealing temperatures to be run simultaneously. This is ideal for method optimization as well as applications like genotyping.

The OptiMax utilizes FlexTemp™ technology that effectively separates the 96-well plate into 6 – (4 x 4) temperature regions that allow you to pick the temperatures you want to test against. These regions are easily identified by the blue and black squares visible on the microplate platen. Instead of having the thermal cycler choose temperatures for you, you can choose any temperatures you want within a 24°C range.

The MultiGene™ OptiMax has a heating rate of 5°C /sec and a cooling rate of 3.5°C/sec. We have minimized overshooting and undershooting so that your reactions only see the temperatures they are supposed to see. This also leads to faster runs time.

Intuitive User Interface

The MultiGene™ OptiMax utilizes an intuitive user interface. This user interface is friendly to the laboratory environment and consistent with what our customers previously enjoyed in our earlier models. It can be used with lab gloves even if wet. We have improved the ramping speed and eliminated overshooting and undershooting which contributes to longer run times.

Fully Adjustable Heated Lid

The OptiMax’s heated lid is fully adjustable to provide optimum pressure for use with a broad range of tubes and microplates. For optimum performance, the lid can also be programmed to hold different temperatures between 60° to 65°C and 100° to 115°C. The OptiMax lid prevents condensation and slides away and back from the user to provide full access to samples and reduce the risk of coming in contact with a hot surface.

Competitor Q uses a single light source to excite all samples.

Differences in light path length lead to differences in excitation, which requires normalization. Though Competitor Q has said that they do not require normalization dyes, this is not reflected in the data as the data CV values for replicates is significantly higher.

Why doesn’t the Cielo™ require ROX dye?

 The Cielo does not require ROX dye because it uses in-well detection technology. The light path for excitation and reading emission are collimated directly into the well. As such, the light path length is always the same for each well, so there is no need to normalize for varying light path length. The data from the Cielo is consistently uniform and reproducible.

Compact, quiet, and powerful are just a few of the features found on the Z216 series microcentrifuges. Add to this, the versatility of eight available rotor options, and the result is the ideal microcentrifuge for the modern molecular biology laboratory.

All common microtubes (0.2 mL, 0.5 mL, 1.5 mL, 2.0 mL) can be accepted as well as PCR strips, hematocrit tubes, and even 5.0 mL centrifuge tubes. The SmartWasher™ 96 provides flexibility by accepting full plates, partial plates, and strips with U, V, C, or flat bottoms. Multiple aspiration point settings allow for minimal residual liquid in the wells after aspiration. All parameters, including dis­pense volume, suction time, soak and shake cycles, and shaking speed are easily programmed using the large 4.3" LCD display and keypad. Up to 100 wash protocols can be stored on board the SmartWasher™ 96 and recalled when needed or transferred between machines with a flash drive.

The washer comes with 2 wash bottles, 1 rinse bottle and a waste bottle. All have sensors that alert the user when the solutions are low, or in the case of the waste bottle, when it needs to be emptied. An auto-rinse function primes the dispensing tube and wash heads to prevent cross contamination and clogs.

8- and 12-channel wash heads are available separately to accommodate plates in either orientation. A transparent, acrylic shield surrounds the wash area, allowing for visualization of the plate. Should a spill or leak occur, the beveled spill well ensures that the liquid is extracted immediately to avoid cross-contamination.

PRO Scientific probes feature a durable doublebearing design that delivers superior strength, stability, and longer service life. Unlike many competitors, the PRO probe rotor shaft does not connect directly to the homogenizer drive shaft, a common weak point that causes excessive wear to both the probe and drive shaft. For applications requiring increased capacity over the Z306 or Z326 series centrifuges, the Z366 series offer a unique "Mid-Range" swing out rotor that accepts a variety of different tubes, including up to 16 x 50 mL or 40 x 15 mL. Despite this step up in capacity, the Z366 maintains a surprisingly compact design, with the standard air-cooled model featuring a footprint of 17 x 20 inches.

In addition to the popular 4 x 250 mL swing out rotor, a variety of additional rotors are also available. Angled rotors range from a 24 x 1.5ml micro rotor to a high capacity 6 x 250 mL rotor. A 2 x 3 microplate rotor is also available, as well as a 4 x PCR strips (8-strips) rotor.

Advanced microprocessor controls allow for instant rotor identification, which automatically converts the rotational speed to the relevant g-force (rcf), preventing the user from setting a speed above the capabilities of the installed rotor.
